Who wants cake?

Christmas 2005

Christmas 2005! Even the pets needed a little something to get them through the festive family season!

Chocolate marshmallow bars

1/2 cup butter
2eggs
3/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp vanilla
1cup sugar
2 squares of melted chocolate

mix and put in an 8x8 pan. Bake 30 min at 350
Cover with small marshmallows and return to oven to soften the marshmallows
Icing
3T butter
1square of melted choclate
1 cup icing sugar
!/8 cup of milk

let stand a day before serving

Hash Brown Casserole

  • 2 lb. frozen Hash browns, slightly thawed
  • 1 500 ml. carton of sour cream
  • 2 tins of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • grated onion and salt to taste
  • 2cups grated cheese
  • Mix all together
  • Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top
  • Bake in 9x 13 pan for 1- 11/2 hours

Christmas morning wife Saver

  • 16 slices white bread, crusts removed
  • Slices of ham or back bacon etc.
  • sharp cheddar cheeseMake int sandwiches and place in a greased 9x 13 pan
  • Combine;
  • 6 eggs
  • 3cups milk
  • 1/4 cup of minced onion and of green pepper
  • 1/tsp. dry mustard 1-2 tsp worcester sauce
  • salt, pepper and dash of tobasco sauce ( you can add salsa or chopped chilis to spice it up)
  • Pour over sandwiches, cover and let stand overnight in fridge
  • Top with 1/4 lb butter and bread crumbs
  • Bake uncovered for 1 hour
